Willsonville - Week 4

Hey Everyone,
Hope all is well at home.  Wilsonville is awesome!  This week was pretty rough. We had 11 lessons cancel. We need more people to teach that are referred from the members. The people that we usually run into get really flakey. I never realized how important members are until I got here to the mission field. We talked to the bishop and Ward mission leader and they made it a huge point to talk about yesterday at church. They really put some pressure on the members, something that we didn't expect. Members are the key and that's how you get lifetime converts.
We had some miracles this week. One day Elder Bishop and I had an hour before dinner. We pulled out a list and prayerfully selected a name to go visit. One really stuck out to me and almost seemed to be bolded. I said lets go to the Walkers, he looked at me and said it’s on the other side of town but let’s go check things out. The Walkers are less actives in the ward. When we arrived at their house we came to find out that their daughter-in-law just got in a serious car crash and was killed. They were sad and said they had been praying that they would be comforted. They said that they were talking about blessings on the way home and got home no more than 5 minutes before we arrived. We gave them blessings and they said they felt way better. The spirit truly does direct you when you follow it. There is no way that that is a coincidence.
We also had an investigator stop smoking this week. She has a new boyfriend who was an ex-smoker and he helped her. He said that through Jesus anything is possible. We looked forward to working with them and seeing what happens. We also just got a text last night from a non member who we talked to at the Ward picnic. She hadn’t seen the missionaries in years. She finally wants to believe and told us that she wants to get baptized, when she knows that God is real. There definitely is a god. Just take a look around. There are way too many coincidences in the world.
Last week in sacrament, I was called on to bear a 10 min testimony out of the blue in the middle of sacrament. It actually wasn't too bad. Probably the easiest one I have ever given.
I also had to give the closing prayer in church this last week. I feel like Wilsonville’s utility player ;).
The members here are awesome and we get fed every night, and usually they give us food to take home. There was only one dinner that I struggled with this week. It was fish. I'm not a fish fan. I just choked it down along with broccoli and Potato salad. What kind of combination is that???? Haha!!
Here is my favorite scripture for the week. Straight POWER
D&C 50
22 Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together.
23 And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness.
24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
Hope all is well at home, hope everyone is doing well.
Keep up the good work.
Love you all,
Elder Williams
